Nigerians Didn't Ask For War, Just For A Better Nigeria'' - Chelsea Football Star -Antonio Rudiger Reacts To Lekki Tollgate Gun Attack
Chelsea defender, Antonio Rüdiger has reacted to the Lekki tollgate gun attack after peaceful #EndSARS protesters were allegedly killed on Tuesday night, October 20.
In his tweets, the German International said he’s shocked how the situation got out of control after putting out a statement last week condemning police brutality in Nigeria.
The center-back also stated that the situation in Nigeria has nothing to do with democracy as he noted that it’s more like a military rule which he says is a violation of human rights at the highest order.
The defender wrote:
After my short statement about Nigeria already last week I’m now even more shocked about how the situation there has got more and more out of control. This saddens me so much. This has absolutely nothing to do with democracy.
It is more like a military rule and it’s a violation of human rights at the highest order. President@mbuhari and the Nigerian Army, stop killing peaceful young protesters. Stop killing the people you are supposed to protect.
The protesters didn’t ask for war, just for a better Nigeria. #EndPoliceBrutalityinNigeria #EndSARS
#Endsars: European Union has earlier release a statement on the shooting of unarmed End Sars protesters in Nigeria
Josep Borrell, the High Representative/Vice-President of the European Union, has released a statement regarding the shooting of unarmed protesters at the Lekki toll gate.
On the evening of October 20, 2020, security operatives opened fire on unarmed End SARS protesters who were singing the National Anthem at the Lekki toll gate. The shooting came moments after the security cameras were removed from the toll gate and the toll gate lights were put off.
Though the governor of Lagos State says there were no fatalities, live videos from the scene and eyewitnesses account say otherwise.
Reacting to what is now being tagged the ”Lekki toll gate massacre,” the European Union released a statement on its official website.
The statement is tagged Nigeria : Statement by the High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell.
It reads: “It is alarming to learn that several people have been killed and injured during the ongoing protests against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Nigeria.
“It is crucial that those responsible of abuses be brought to justice and held accountable.
“Following the Government’s will to deliver on reforms, we expect to see decisive implementation.”

Unilag Crisis: FG Has Ogundipe, Babalakin To Recuse Themselves From Official Duties
The Federal Government on Friday directed the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of the University of Lagos, Wale Babalakin, and Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe to recuse themselves from official duties, pending the outcome of the Special Visitation Panel set up by the President.
The information was announced in a press statement signed by the Federal Ministry of Education spokesman, Ben Goong.
“Government also directs the Senate of the University of Lagos to immediately convene to nominate an acting Vice-Chancellor from amongst its members for confirmation by the Governing Council,” the statement added.
Babalakin’s Governing Council had, on August 12, sacked Ogundipe as Vice-Chancellor over alleged financial misappropriation and misconduct.
Ogundipe, however, rejected the Council’s decision, saying the University’s due process had not been followed.
The University’s Senate, alumni, and labour unions also put out statements saying the due process had not been followed.
But Babalakin, in several media reactions, insisted that due process had been complied with in terminating Ogundipe’s appointment.
The Presidential Panel, made up of seven members, is expected to determine whether the required steps were taken by the Council in sacking Ogundipe.
They are also expected “to make appropriate recommendations including sanctions for all those found culpable” in the investigation, which is expected to last for two weeks.
The panel will be inaugurated by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, on August 26.
Members of the panel include Professor Tukur Sa’ad (Chairman), Barrister Victor Onuoha, Professor Ikenna Onyido, Professor Ekanem Braide, Professor Adamu K. Usman, Chief Jimoh Bankole and Barrister Grace Ekanem (Secretary).
How i was embarrassed simply because i looked gay - Nigerian man recounts
The man with the Twitter handle @BodilawFortune, wrote
''I initially didn't want to do this, but I think it's necessary to save other people from unnecessary stigmatization. In Ibadan today, I was assaulted by a man and his girlfriend after they gave me a free ride.
I was at Elebu Market to see someone at a restaurant. Unfortunately for me, the fellow didn't show up and I had just N50 with me which I used to buy water, hoping the person will show up.
After waiting for like 2 hours, I decide to leave as they were already looking at me 1kind
But since I didn't have money, I decided to trek home. But what I thought was a blessing turn out to be a curse. I stopped a car with 3 occupants and asked them if they were heading towards Orita Challenge which was my next destination. The car stopped and I joined them
There were 3 people, 2 men at front and a lady in the back. Some few minutes, I discovered that the lady is drunk and she was just saying rubbish to the man. I decide not to interfere cuz I was still pissed. All of a sudden, she just said 'Oyinbo, will you marry me'
I said Nooo, Oga will vex. She said who's Oga? I didn't reply. Then all of a sudden her hand was going towards my manhood. My only crime was to say. Excuse me what are you doing. And I pushed her hand away. The next I heard was big blow on my head.
I was terrified but decided not to shout. I just said what did I do now? The man at the passenger side, that I think is her boyfriend, just looked back and slapped me. That why am I talking to his girlfriend like that. That I even look like gay and he will treat my fuck up.
It was at this moment that fear gripped me. I just started begging and all of a sudden the girl dragged my cloth by my neck and was pushing me back and forth. The only thing I could say was they should just drop me that I was sorry to enter their car.
The driver was asking them to leave me that he does not want trouble (I think he's their friend) The guy asked him to stop the car where there are no much people passing. At that moment, we were close to New Garage, they just parked and I barely came down self when they zoom
I just thanked God to be alive. People around the area where looking at me like a mad man, but I wss just grateful they didn't hurt me. It was at that moment my friend called me that's he's at Elebu Market. I took bike back there & he paid before heading home
Nigerians need to stop discriminating against people you don't know. You can't just assume I'm gay because I'm light in complexion or have female face. Did I create myself. I face same stigma during some modeling audition, which is bad
I'm traumatized but life just has to go on. I hope we can all learn to live together in peace and love.''
Anything Concerning Marriage Has Been Suspended For Now- Harrysong
Harrison Tare Okiri, better known by his stage name Harrysong, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and instrumentalist , 39 has revealed that he doesn’t want any baby mama.
According to reports the eligible bachelor who once hinted of getting married in 2020 noted that he had suspended marriage temporarily because he was “not sure anymore.’’
He said;
“Everything about marriage has been suspended for now. I’m focusing more on my music and business. The truth is that I’m still young and having the passion to settle down early is a normal feeling. When you meet someone and don’t really connect is a pointer of what could happen later in life. You can’t manage yourself into a life-time journey, you have to be 100 per cent sure. In my case, I wasn’t so sure anymore. There are some things I can’t talk about. For now, I have to manage it on my own.’’
“As long as you’re above 20 years, you should be eligible for marriage. As a celebrity, distraction can be one of the reasons of not getting married early but finding the right person is very important.
“Personally I don’t support having a baby mama even though it’s a common phenomenon nowadays. Having a baby mama is a personal decision. I don’t have a baby mama because I don’t want it.’’
The artiste also said:
‘‘Young artistes are not a threat to me in any way. The sky is big enough. That’s why they came and took their own place. Music is a function of who works harder and smarter. These young guys are talented and I enjoy their music. Even in other countries, a time comes when young artistes spring up and it’s healthy for the music industry. It’s not a threat to me in any way. Rather, it’s very healthy for our industry. Sometimes, I don’t even know people who have booked me because you have to get through people to do that. I just know that I’m to perform somewhere and keep the date. You can criticise us, we’re open to it, when we (singers) make mistakes, we should be corrected and everyone should move on.’’

A Judge tells a mother she can't name her kids these names, says they are illegal
A judge, Justice Eleanor King, told a mother from Powys, Wales, that she can't give her newborn twins the names she chose. The mother attempted to name her twins "Cyanide" and "Preacher." She said she believed "Cyanide" was a pretty name for a little girl with positive implications since it's the poison that killed both Hitler and his follower Joseph Goebbels. She also argued that she had the right to name her own children whatever she wanted.
While Justice King acknowledged that "Preacher" wasn't as bad of a name as Cyanide, he ruled that the name 'Cyanide' could cause emotional harm to the child in future.
King said:
Social workers from Powys County Council took the case to the British Appeal Court. An injunction had previously been issued to prevent the mother from formally registering the names.

King said:
"It is hard to see how...the twin girl could regard being named after this deadly poison as other than a complete rejection of her by her birth mother."The twins, who are now 8 months old, were reportedly conceived of rape. They were placed in foster care, along with their three half-siblings, due to the mother's history of mental illness and drug and alcohol abuse.
Social workers from Powys County Council took the case to the British Appeal Court. An injunction had previously been issued to prevent the mother from formally registering the names.
Justice King said:
"This is one of those rare cases where the court should intervene to protect the girl twin from emotional harm," said King.Justice King ruled that the children would not be named Cyanide and Preacher, she decided it was in the best interest of the twins to be renamed by their half-siblings and not their mother.
